Postcards from Paris

Postcards from Paris. Black and white photography has always felt nostalgic and romantic to me, so fitting for the City of Light. First stop, Cafe de Flores for cafe au lait and patio watching.

Liz and I blushed at handsome men; her’s drove away in this convertible.

Diane Pernet (ASVOFF) showed up.

Carousel at the Jardins des Tuileries.

Why yes, I’d love to ride in your carriage.

Liz had the most amazing Tiramisu ice cream.

Early Sunday morning antique market shopping.

Pralines and cityside amusement parks.

I’m kicking myself for not picking up handmade lavender, rose and vanilla soap.

Garden picnic.

Mini parasol at the antique market.

The amazing window display at Laduree. I love bows and rose petal macarons.

Parisian chic.

Liz and I, drinking wine under the sparkling Eiffel Tower.

London Fashion Week Highlights

Highlights from London Fashion Week. The location: Somerset House, the grand palace of Queen Elizabeth I, built along the River Thames. Between the shows, the courtyard  became a runway for editors, bloggers, and street style aficionados.

Louboutins and sequins in the rain.

Karen, with blue Cruella De Vil hair.

One model, four photographers.

The new tribe, in fowl and fox.

I know the feeling.

Backstage at Cristina Sabaiduc. Love the versatile pieces, placed on the wall with magnets. Lots more backstage photos on her blog.

Pre-show inhalants.

Rockstar gang, models in waiting.

Babes.

Multi-tasking models, rehearsal walk.

The austere ladies of Caroline Charles.

Dig the New Breed Opening

Friday was the opening of Dig the New Breed at Rankin’s Annroy gallery. I’m delighted to participate in such an amazing opportunity, surrounded by many other talented artists. It was my pleasure to meet Rankin, an innovative fashion photographer. Dazed & Confused hosted the party and we enjoyed strawberry bellinis. Can you spot my daydreamy photo? Taken in the summer at Coney Island, the editorial was published in Bambi magazine.

The press pre-party.

Tuuli, being a badass babe.

Kreayshawn performed.

Florence Welch showed up to party. The show will be up from Sept 19 – Oct 7 at Annroy Gallery, 110-114 Grafton Rd.

Rankin Gallery Opening + London Fashion Week

I’m honored to be selected as one of the photographers in Rankin’s upcoming exhibition Dig the New Breed. In collaboration with On|Off, the exhibition will feature prints from emerging London photographers at his Annroy gallery. I’m looking forward to the Dazed TV opening this Friday, and meeting the infamous Rankin with his gorgeous wife Tuuli.

Friday also launches London Fashion Week – I’ve got my photographer’s pass and show invites. Hoping to sneak backstage and crash some parties. Maybe might tweet a thing or two – don’t hold it against me if the champagne goes straight to my head. Also, I’ll be documenting street style for Dirty Magazine – I’ll say hi after I drool over your shoes. Many photos to come.

Above photo is of me doing a light test for a recent editorial.

Designer Dreams

One of the things I miss the most about Toronto is Miss Ruth Weil. (You might remember her campaign that I shot.)

Weekly dates of working, drinking, gossiping and pushing each other toward our goals has been the best support system – especially when we’re both trying to hustle it in the fickle fashion industry.

I’m so proud to see her vision realized in a runway show after so many nights of hard work. Oh, and now she’s on twitterSo am I.

Champagne Delivery Darlings

Liz and I are headed to Paris this evening. I’m looking forward to ordering champagne and macaroons in bed, checking out the latest exhibitions in contemporary art, and going to old French cinemas. We might even wake up cuddling under the Eiffel tower.

WEMF Memories

Back when I used to WEMF… there was only a field, djs, and party zombies. Sam and I dancing as the sun rises. Be safe kids!

Croatia

True to the European lifestyle, we took a holiday in the middle of the summer. I went to Croatia for a week, visiting Novalja and Zadar. The view from the plane shows all the different islands.

I love how the picturesque town is in between the sea and the mountains.

Can you get me a little pastel house please?

The beach beside our apartment.

One family we stayed with welcomed us in the morning with Turkish coffee and Rakija, a homemade brandy.

Sunsets in Zadar, from the view of the Sea Organ. A staircase that leads into the sea with holes in it, making different sounds depending on the water’s movements.

I already miss swimming in the salt water.
